What We Are Looking For

This position specifically supports the mission of the Honors College (HC) through leadership and service that fosters the holistic development of Honors Residential College (HRC) students through programming, recruitment, retention initiatives, academic support programs, and mentoring opportunities.

A Masters Degree and one year of relevant experience is required. Two years of relevant experience, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, strong communication and organizational skills are preferred. Education and experience will be considered in lieu of one another.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You Will Do

Leadership Training and Mentoring
  • Coordinate with partners across the Honors College, Campus Living & Learning (CL&L), New Student Programs, Living Learning Programs, and the HRC's staff and student leaders in identifying, sharing, and implementing best practices in co- and extra-curricular programming for residents
  • Advise the HRC College Council team in planning and implementing student-led programming, curricular, and recruiting activities
  • Organize and attend HRC College Council meetings weekly
  • Meet daily with Administrative Assistant to coordinate the HRC calendar and event planning and implementation

Event Planning and Coordination
  • Collaborate with Honors College programs and majors (UNSC, GTX, BIC, HP) and HRC partners to plan events and activities that support the curricular and co-curricular goals of the community, the Honors College, and Baylor University
  • Develop and coordinate academic and extracurricular programming of the HRC, including HRC Lecture Series and other weekly events

Recruitment and Retention
  • Coordinate the recruitment, application, admission, and selection processes for upper-division students, incoming freshmen, and transfer students
  • Liaise with Campus Living & Learning concerning occupancy management of all bed spaces and room assignments within the HRC
  • Collaborate with Honors College Dean's office in undergraduate recruitment initiatives such as Getterman, Premiere, Daily Visits, I2E, Orientation, etc.
  • Respond to student and parent inquiries in strategic and effective ways
  • Contribute to the marketing and promotion of the HRC by identifying and providing information and timely story lines to the Honors College's Director of Communications
  • Foster effective communications strategies, including but not limited to social media, print materials and the HRC website to promote interest in activities, programs and services
  • Direct Honors Line Camp programming each summer in conjunction with New Student Programs (NSP) and the Honors College, including on-site supervision of camp activities

Collaborate with HRC/HC Partners
  • Collaborate closely with Honors College programs/majors, residence hall director, resident chaplain, community leaders, faculty steward and other partners who support the HRC
  • Serve as co-chair for the HRC Advisory Board, comprised of faculty, staff and students
  • Attend the bi-weekly Living-Learning Program Directors' meetings and other related events or trainings facilitated by Campus Living & Learning
  • Maintain dotted-line relationship with CL&L's Associate Director for Academic Initiatives
  • Collaborate with CL&L on HRC-related initiatives (e.g., Move-in Day, hall staff selection, housing reapplication, etc.)
  • Collaborate with several departments on campus to host a wide variety of events and lectures throughout the year (e.g., Office of Engaged Learning, the University Writing Center, the Career Center)
  • Work with the Honors Program to offer HC students Honors credit for attending and writing papers about the Formation Series lectures
  • Participate as a member of the HC Recruitment Committee
  • Attend HC Staff meetings to coordinate programming within the HC
  • Collaborate with Admissions and Campus Visits to offer virtual and in person HRC information sessions to recruit and engage with prospective students
  • Collaborate with the Missions Office to organize and recruit for the HRC annual mission trip, and to travel with the group as needed

Manage HRC Budget
  • Manage student program fee budget in consultation with supervisor and business officer
  • Practicing good judgment and decision-making in purchase decisions
  • Keep clear, organized records and projections of the fiscal year budget
  • Manage process of reviewing applications for HRC Leadership Scholarships and providing award recommendations to chair of Honors College Scholarship Committee
