The University of Chattanooga Foundation Inc. (UC Foundation) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Senior Director of Advancement for the University of Tennessee Chattanooga's Gary W. Rollins College of Business. Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean, the Senior Director of Advancement is responsible for setting and executing fundraising strategy to support the priorities of the Gary W. Rollins College of Business.

This role will focus on securing philanthropic gifts of $25,000 or more from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Fundraising: Develop and execute fundraising strategies to reach the philanthropic goals for the Gary W. Rollins College of Business. Build relationships and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective donors. Manage and steward 80-100 major prospects, with annual performance expectations related to visits, proposals, and dollars raised. Engage and maximize participation of board members, volunteers, and advocates in fundraising efforts. Administer special fundraising campaigns and projects.

Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with the Dean, faculty members, department heads and volunteers to identify priorities, implement fundraising strategies and engage donors. Prepare customized presentations, proposals, prospective briefings, thank you notes, donor reports, and related communications. Conduct timely and donor centric outreach involving email, phone calls, and written correspondence. Coordinate with Advancement colleagues on projects and strategies for assigned college/unit including stewardship, communications, annual giving and alumni relations projects related to the college, including direct response, crowdfunding, give days, and faculty/campaign efforts, among others.

Administration & Engagement: Perform other professional duties as needed to assure the efficiency and effectiveness of development operations as assigned by the Vice Chancellor or Senior Associate Vice chancellor.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

The candidate who fills the Senior Director of Advancement position is required to have:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of fundraising, sales, business development or closely related experience
  • Prior knowledge and/or familiarity with local and national business environments
  • Ability and confidence to effectively identify, cultivate, solicit and steward financial commitments
  • Ability to work independently and confidently with senior leadership at UTC and in corporate sector
  • Ability to design and implement strategies for fundraising campaigns and individual donor cultivation
  • High-level interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365


A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances. In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.

Note - Candidates holding a graduate degree must have at least 5 years of experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:
  • Degree in business or related field and/or work experience in sales or business environment
